Privacy at Moodoodle
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Moodoodle is made for kids, so privacy matters enormously to us. Here’s exactly how it works.
The short version
- No accounts. Moodoodle never asks for a name, email or login.
- No ads, no ad tracking, no analytics SDKs.
- Artwork stays on your device. We don’t upload it.
- Create with Moo sends your child’s idea, after safety checks, to our drawing service so Moo can draw it. We don’t keep it, and we don’t log what was asked for.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google; we never see payment details.
1. Who we are
Moodoodle is an app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and this website. “We” means Moodoodle, who makes Moodoodle. You can reach us through our contact form.
2. Information Moodoodle collects
Kept on your device only
- Your child’s artwork, and for each picture the idea it came from (in their words), its coloring level and dates.
- Settings: the coloring level (an age band such as “Ages 6–7”), any interests you pick (and an optional “something else” you type), sound and music choices.
- How many Moo creations have been used, and a record of what you’ve bought, so the app knows what’s available.
- Simple counts of things that happened in the app (for example “a purchase screen was shown”). These counts never include ideas or artwork, and they are not sent anywhere.
Sent to our drawing service, only when Create with Moo is used
- The idea, after it has been checked on the device, inside Moodoodle’s drawing instructions.
- The coloring level and the shape of the page.
- A random identifier the app creates when it’s installed (not linked to your name, your device’s advertising ID or any account), plus a random ID for each request. These let us apply a fair daily limit and avoid drawing (and paying for) the same request twice.
3. What Moodoodle does not intentionally collect
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, birth dates or photos of your child.
- Precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers (IDFA / Android advertising ID).
- Voice recordings. When the microphone is used, speech is turned into text by your device’s system speech recognizer (Apple’s or Google’s); Moodoodle receives only the text and never saves or sends the audio.
- Payment details.
We ask kids not to put personal details into their ideas, and Moodoodle removes things that look like email addresses, links and long numbers before anything is sent.
4. How information is used
- To draw the coloring page your child asked for.
- To keep Create with Moo fair and affordable (daily limits) and to stop the same request being drawn twice.
- To show the right pictures and level, and remember your artwork and settings on the device.
- To answer you if you contact us.
We don’t use information for advertising, we don’t sell it, and we don’t build profiles of children.
5. Create with Moo and generated content
Ideas are checked on the device first, and again by our drawing service, which runs on Google Cloud. The service then asks OpenAI’s image API to draw the page. OpenAI receives Moodoodle’s drawing instructions with the idea in them. It does not receive the install identifier or any identifier for your child. OpenAI also applies its own moderation to the picture.
Our service does not record what was asked for: its logs hold technical details only (timing, sizes, errors), not ideas or pictures. It briefly keeps the finished picture in memory — for up to 10 minutes — so a retried request doesn’t make a new one. It has no database.
The finished page is sent back to the app and saved on your device. When the device is offline, the iPhone and iPad app draws a simpler page on the device instead, and nothing is sent.
6. Age and coloring level
Instead of a birth date, Moodoodle asks for an age band. It’s used only to choose how detailed Moo’s new pictures are and which Library pictures to suggest. It stays on the device, except that the level is sent with a Create with Moo request so the page is drawn at the right detail. It never locks content away.
7. Artwork and saved creations
Artwork is saved in Moodoodle’s storage on your device. We don’t upload it or see it. Like other app data, it can be included in your device’s own backups (iCloud or device backups on Apple devices; Google backup on Android), under your Apple or Google settings. Sharing, printing or saving a picture to Photos happens only when a grown-up chooses to, behind a grown-up check.
8. Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play and handled by Apple or Google under their terms and privacy policies. The app checks what you’ve bought on the device; no purchase information is sent to us. Moodoodle offers the Moodoodle Library (one-time) and Moo Studio (a subscription you manage in your store account).
9. Analytics and diagnostics
Moodoodle contains no analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs. The app keeps simple counts on the device for its own use; they are not sent to us. Apple and Google may offer us anonymous, aggregated crash and usage reports from people who have chosen to share them with app developers in their device settings.
10. Service providers
- Google Cloud (Cloud Run) hosts our drawing service.
- OpenAI draws pages from Moodoodle’s instructions, under its API terms.
- Apple and Google handle purchases, and their speech recognizers turn spoken ideas into text.
- Netlify hosts this website and delivers contact-form messages to us.
Each processes data under its own privacy terms. We don’t sell or share information with anyone else.
11. Children’s privacy
Moodoodle is made for children, and we designed it to collect as little as possible: no accounts, no personal details, no ads, and no tracking. A grown-up check guards purchases, settings, sharing, printing and deleting. There’s a plain-language explanation for parents on our Children’s Privacy page.
12. How long data is kept
- On your device: until you delete it, or delete the app.
- Our drawing service: finished pictures for up to 10 minutes in memory; fair-use counts for a rolling 24 hours in memory. Neither is written to disk.
- Google Cloud keeps standard request logs for the service (which can include IP addresses) under its default retention.
- Contact-form messages: as long as we need to help you, and then deleted.
13. Deleting data and parent requests
- Delete a picture: My Art → ••• → Throw pictures away.
- Delete all artwork: Settings → the grown-ups area → Clear All Artwork.
- Start fresh: the grown-ups area → Reset Moodoodle on this device.
- Or delete the app, which removes everything it stored.
We don’t hold your child’s artwork or ideas, so there’s nothing for us to delete on our side; but if you have any question or request about your family’s data, contact us and we’ll help.
14. Security
The apps talk to our service only over HTTPS. Our service keeps nothing permanently, and our API keys stay on the server, never in the apps. No system is perfectly secure, but collecting so little is the strongest protection we have.
15. Where data is processed
Our drawing service runs in the United States (Google Cloud, us-central1), and OpenAI processes requests in the United States. If you use Create with Moo from outside the US, the idea is processed there.
16. This website
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, trackers or third-party scripts; its fonts and pictures are served from the site itself. Netlify, our host, processes standard request information (such as your IP address) to deliver and protect the site. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email and message you send; to prevent spam, we keep a one-way scrambled version of your IP address for about an hour.
17. Changes to this policy
If we change how Moodoodle handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be explained in the app before they take effect.
18. Contact us
Questions or requests: send us a note and we’ll reply to the address you give.
